The resources I needed all along.

Hey there, I’m Sarah. I am the co-founder of Beardie Supply Co.

In 2020, like most, I felt lonely and decided to bring home a pet in the middle of an unprecedented lockdown. A bearded dragon. A little guy named Sunny.

I went out and bought the starter kit the pet store recommended. After I came home with excitement, I decided to do some more research. I read the care sheets, watched the videos, and everywhere I looked, the advice contradicted what I’d just read. One source swore by sand, the next called it dangerous. One said his lighting was perfect; another said it was useless. I wasn’t lazy. I wasn’t careless. I was drowning in information overload and this seemed to be the consensus amongst many other new owners.

So I joined a Facebook group. I found a safe place to share notes, compare what works and help each other. To my shock, the group grew to a community of over 100,000 members, with moderators and contributors who’ve spent years researching and providing knowledge to the community without asking for anything in return. I originally set out to simply buy a pet to feel less lonely, and instead I became a member of one of the most amazing and devoted communities I have ever been a part of.

Everything was going well and I thought I had things figured out, but in 2024, out of absolutely nowhere, I had to say goodbye to Sunny.

He was more than a pet, he was my family. He was there through the growth of the community, the late-night research sessions, the endless husbandry debates, and every lesson learned along the way. Losing him was one of the hardest experiences I’ve had in my life.

His passing reminded me of something I still believe today: no matter how much experience you have, you will NEVER stop learning. What matters is having access to trustworthy information, asking questions, and doing the best you can for the animals in your care.

After that awful day, I decided to commit my time to helping others have access to the best products and information available. After years of doing careful due diligence, I am finally ready to share Beardie Supply Co. Our mission is to help keepers feel confident in the choices they make and to give them the guidance I spent years searching for when I first started.

I can’t go back and relive those early years with Sunny. But I can help make sure today’s keepers have access to the knowledge, tools, and support I wish existed when I was starting out.
